Does chewing a clove of garlic first thing in the morning keep hypertension away?

Due to hectic work schedules, erratic sleep patterns and increased consumption of junk food, high blood pressure – a condition in which the body’s blood pressure is higher than normal – is becoming increasingly common. According to the Mayo Clinic, the normal range for blood pressure is 120/80 mm Hg or less, while “hypertension is a blood pressure of 130/80 mm Hg or higher.” To manage it, people consume a number of drugs and foods; but is there any way to control high blood pressure Naturally? Yes, and Dr. Diksa Bhavsar Savaliya shared everything about it on Instagram.

“So my dad was diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension) in December 2021 and ever since I am giving him 1 raw garlic clove to chew on first thing in the morning and it is really working for him. The Ayurveda expert wrote on Instagram, “I am sharing the remedy with you all after I have received positive follow-ups from more than 500 of my patients (all ages in their late 20s to late 80’s).

Best way to consume it:

According to Saluja, garlic can be consumed in the following ways:

* Eat it raw – This is one of the best ways to consume it. Raw garlic activates allinase, an enzyme that converts alliin to allicin. “It is best to consume raw garlic 1-2 hours after a meal or it can cause symptoms of dyspepsia in the gut,” he said.

*Powder Form – Make sure each serving contains about 3.5-5.5mg of allicin.

*Garlic Milk – Add 10-12 cloves of minced garlic to hot milk. You can also add a pinch of honey to it for better results.

“Heating garlic or adding it to a recipe can change its pH balance. Allicin’s enzymes need a few minutes to start working, so let it sit after cutting, crushing or biting!” Added Saluja.

However, Dr. Savalia suggests chewing a clove of garlic first thing in the morning every day. vata-kapha nature,

* “For pitta (people with heat problems), either fry it in ghee or have it with breakfast/lunch (and not on an empty stomach) as it is hot in nature,” Savalia said.

He further explained that the various bioactive compounds present in this herb, which also help to provide various health benefits, are: Volatile oil – 0.06-0.1%; carbohydrates – arabinose, galactose, etc .; Vitamins – Folic acid, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamin C; amino acids (erinic, asparaginic acid, methionine, etc.); Enzyme- allinase; Volatile compounds – allyl alcohol, allylthiol, allylpropyl disulfide, etc.

However, the expert cautioned, “This does not mean that you can discontinue your anti-hypertensive medications and only consume garlic daily. It cannot happen immediately. It works best for preventive purposes (such as if you have a high) blood pressure Genetically, you can definitely prevent it with the consumption of garlic and a healthy lifestyle).

Continuing, she said, “To manage blood pressure, take it daily for 21 days and then measure your blood pressure. Continue this for 8-12 weeks together healthy lifestyle Alternatives (if necessary—with herbs like gokshura, arjuna, etc.) can certainly reduce dependence on anti-hypertensive pills.”
