tell me about yourself.
I have been a personal trainer since the mid-90s, and in my career spanning over 20 years, I have coached professional athletes, bodybuildersMotocross, etc. As a transformation specialist, I have converted hundreds of people with online resources like my website – krisgethin.com and also millions through my transformation video series.
How would you define today’s generation’s awareness of fitness?
i would say inspirational, I think today’s generation is curious about fitness, workouts and better performance. But, at the same time, it is worrying as the younger generation craves instant gratification. They get inspired by seeing pictures and videos on Instagram and they want instant results. This is definitely not healthy and many people get injured in the process. Another problem I’ve come across is the cookie-cutter fitness programs designed by personal trainers. I truly believe that in fitness, you can’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach. The programs have to be designed keeping in mind your body type, preferences, lifestyle, time constraints, goals etc. This is the philosophy that we follow in our gym as well. So, I think some aspects are good and some could be better.
Will the pandemic, in any way, inspire more people to jump on the fitness bandwagon?
Certainly, I think now more people are inclined towards fitness. A lot of people are building home gyms, doing workouts at home, they are controlling their environment, especially in India. I’ve noticed that when I go for a walk on the beach at 6:30 in the morning, there are a lot of people who exercise Some of them are running, walking and some are doing yoga. Actually, some are doing sports classes on the beach. This scenario is actually different from the situation 10 years ago. At that time the beaches were mostly empty. I think the pandemic has made people realize the importance of health, which is why they are paying more attention (on their health) and availing outside for the same. However, at the same time, I still feel that there are majority of people who are still following unhealthy habits like eating and drinking junk food. So I believe we still have a long way to go.
But, do you think there is an unhealthy obsession to lose weight in the shortest possible time?
It is my constant endeavor to encourage and educate people to do it in a healthy and right way for longevity. My advice to him is that if you want to maintain it for a long time, then you have to follow the right procedure and give the required time to your body to achieve the goals that you want to achieve.
Tell us about your association with Hrithik Roshan?
I was brought to India in 2011 to release one of my books, body by design (Now called Guide to Your Best B0dy). A copy of that book was gifted to Hrithik by my friend and now business partner Jag Cheema. After reading that book, Hrithik wanted to consult me. So, our initial conversation took place over the phone. Then, after some time, I went to India to personally counsel him. at that point, Hrithik He was lying in bed for three months due to the rupture of the disc. He was eating too much food and following unhealthy habits. So, we started working together and in a span of 9-10 weeks, he completely turned for the film. Krrish 3,

Hrithik hasn’t changed much in the last few years. That’s why I came to India to help him prepare for his upcoming film. Over the years, I’ve helped her get in shape online, but not in person. But, this time we’re really going to take his body to the next level Warrior, In the process, we are dealing with a lot of injuries but we are working around them for this transformation.
What does his current workout routine look like?
Very often, we train two body parts in one training session, but sometimes, it is only one. We train regularly for three days and then take a day off. The duration of his workout sessions is around one hour for each workout session. Then, he does a steady-state cardio workout Every day for about 20 minutes.
…and his diet?
Hrithik is eating six meals a day and is currently consuming around 4,000 calories per day. He’s eating a lot of food right now, as we’re building Muscles at this time. Most of their food is made up of protein. Sources of protein are poultry, fish, egg whites, protein powder etc. And then, there are carbohydrates which are coming from potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice and oats. He is also eating some bread together vegetables And some healthy fats like nuts, egg yolks and some olive oil. Then finally he is consuming protein shake. So, at this point of time, his diet mostly consists of six meals a day along with a protein shake.
How is Hrithik’s cheat meal?
I don’t allow Hrithik to cheat. He usually has a craving for sugar, like chocolate or cake or anything sweet. But, sugar is very addictive and I don’t like to give it the taste of sugar. In fact, there have been a lot of studies on rodents that prove that sugar is more addictive than heroin.
How important is mindset when it comes to fitness goals?
This is of utmost importance. Without the right mindset, you are not going to achieve any goal in life, be it your career, relationships, spiritual goals, or fitness goals, One thing I notice as a trainer is that you are as much a psychologist as you are a physical trainer – you have to get into the mind of the person you are training to discipline are. I believe that fitness is driven by discipline and not by motivation because motivation fails very often. When we’re not feeling well or tired, emotions kick in and this reduces our motivation. So, to achieve your goals related to fitness or anything in life, you have to rely on discipline, motivation may or may not be present.
All set to fire fast, Chris?

Also, I have a few international companies that I run and none of this sounds like work. It’s all taken out time for me. I also read about four books a month and that’s all in my playing time.
What is the optimum age to start training and why?
I think 17-18 is the most appropriate age to start training as you end up growing according to that age group. So, around this age, one can start doing more resistance and weight-bearing exercises.
How do you beat a lazy day?
I usually beat my lazy days by taking an ice bath or cold shower first thing in the morning. I don’t always like to depend on caffeine. so, take one ice bath Usually beats a lazy day for me.
Mental health is as important as physical health – do you agree?
This is extremely important. Especially, in a world driven by social media where we are constantly comparing ourselves to others which can make us feel insecure and inadequate. Also, the diet we consume in today’s day and age has an impact on us. falls on mental health, When we consume these inflammatory foods like fried foods, refined vegetable oils, sugar etc., all this inflammation in our body leads to a chemical imbalance in our brain. Therefore, it is extremely important to make mental health a priority.
