Navratri 2022: This is what Ayurveda says about fasting

much awaited Navratri The festival is here, during which people worship Goddess Durga and many also observe a fast. Fasting during this nine-day period is considered auspicious, but experts say it is also a great way to detox the body. but how?

According to Dr. Diksa, one can do different types of fasting, such as:

*Sugar and salt fast*

*Circadian Rhythm Fasting [a time-restricted feeding (TRF) in which a person eats all of their food across a span of hours in the earlier part of the day]

However, “if you are pregnant, have health issues, or are taking medication, you should not fast because it will do more harm than good,” Dr Karishma Shah said warmly.

Experts have also listed down the foods that can be included in your fast during Navratri-

*fruit
*nuts
* Dairy (milk, curd, buttermilk)
* Rajgira / Buckwheat Roti
*Sabudana/Bajra Khichdi
*Boiled Sweet Potatoes and Potatoes
*coconut water/sugarcane juice
*homemade sweets
*Himalayan salt use*
,makhanasi

“Please do not consume unhealthy chips, Phalhari Chivda and fried food. It is better not to fast than eating unhealthy food, which can lead to various disorders,” said Dr Dixha.
