Anxiety, a common emotion, makes a person feel anxious, stressed or uncomfortable. Often a person can feel anxious even for no reason. Anxiety is the way our body reacts to stressful triggers, or the way our brain copes with low levels of serotonin.
Either way, feeling upset and on edge is not a pleasant experience. Dimple Jangda, founder of Prana Healthcare and Ayurveda Academy recently shared a list of Ayurvedic remedies for anxiety.

1.) Oil. Her post says that gentle but consistent oil use stimulates healthy blood circulation to the brain and pituitary gland. Herbs and essences can also provide relief.
2.) Ashwagandha is a plant that is useful for reducing anxiety.
3.) Brahmi is another plant that has been associated with reducing anxiety. It helps in reducing the level of cortisol (stress hormone) in your body. It also improves concentration and regenerates brain cells.
4.) Sitting in camel pose can also help relieve stress. Dealing with anxiety is always a difficult task, but self-care methods and habits can reduce the intensity of your sadness.
“Herbs like Mandukaparni, Brahmi, Ashwagandha, Yashtimadhu, Jatamasi and Amla have been found to reduce anxiety and relax the body and mind. If you are having trouble sleeping, try a foot massage with Kshirbala Thilam. This will help you fall asleep faster; herbal remedies like Manasmitravattakam have helped people achieve mental peace,” says Dr. Archana Sukumaran, an ayurvedic doctor at Kerala Ayurveda.
Ayurveda believes in the concept of mind and body being intertwined – what affects your mind affects your body and vice versa. Taking care of your mind is as important as taking care of your body. Remember to create a self-care routine with the things that work for you, and take the time to do them.
