What to eat and avoid the day before Karva Chauth (and what you should include in your sargi thali)

On this day, women keep a fast for their husbands from sunrise to moonrise without eating or drinking anything. longevity and safety, On Karva Chauth, which is celebrated during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi in the Hindu month of Kartik, Women wake up before dawn and take a bath, after which they eat a plate called sargiMade by her mother-in-law, it consists of foods that are energy-rich and nutritious.

“This fast is a great way of yearly detoxification for the body. More than its religious benefits, it has health benefits and will reset your system and allow for cleansing.” Nutritionist Dr Juhi Kapoor wrote on Instagram.

But instead of shocking the body by not eating anything throughout the day, experts recommend building it up by eating (and avoiding certain foods). But how can you do that? “The day before fasting, avoid spicy, fried and unhealthy snacks. Eat Healthy Carbs and Stay Hydrated to Maintain It Fast smoothly,” said the expert, explaining what foods should and should not be consumed before fasting.

* Consume fruits and vegetables as they help increase potassium levels before fasting.

*Eat healthy carbs like hand pounded rice, sweet potatoes, and Jaggery, This will ensure that you are full of energy before your fast.

* Drinking coconut water will help in maintaining electrolyte balance, and will keep you energized and refreshed on Karva Chauth.

*Avoid tea and coffee a day before as they are diuretic in nature and thus can dehydrate the body earlier waterless fasting,

*Avoid spicy and fried foods as they will leave you thirsty and make you feel bloated and heavy.

But, it is equally important that sargi is rich in foods that will help women feel energized during the day. In another post, the expert shared “how to make sattvik sargi.”

“Some may believe that Karva Chauth is just a day’s fast (15 hours) without food and water. So, why does a short fast require so much preparation? But, not everyone is accustomed to fasting. And to enjoy the festival, rituals and practices must be followed in the best way.Traditionally, mother-in-law cooks sargi for her daughter-in-law, who consume it easily to maintain the fast, She captioned her post.

Seven things you need on your plate for sattvik sargi

cereal: Wheat / Rice / Bajra – If you want, you can have it in the form of roti, porridge, upma, poha, wheat semiya or oats.

Lentils: Lentils/legumes – You can have lentils in the form of parathas, besan ka cheela, sattu ke laddus and many other preparations

Vegetable: Eat it as a vegetable paratha, or as a vegetable, or make it as a salad.

fruit: Any seasonal fruit, preferably banana or papaya, and pomegranate. “Make sure you eat fruits first and then keep a gap of 20-30 minutes before consuming the rest of the ingredients on your plate,” Kapoor said.

Nuts and Dried Fruits: Cashew nuts, raisins, coconut, walnuts or whatever you like

dairy: Curd, Buttermilk, Lassi, Milkshake or Khoya Sweets

Jaggery / Mishri: Such sweets will keep the craving away. This will also ensure that you are full of energy during the fast.
