Our elders often advise us that Bathing after eating. Turns out, Ayurveda also strongly recommends against it. But, there’s more – it’s not just bathing, experts say, that some other bathing habits, which are extremely common, have the potential to affect the digestive system and overall health. “Our body works in complex ways and all our actions have potential consequences; bathing rituals are definitely one of them,” Dr Garima Goel, a dietitian, told indianexpress.com.
Clarifying the same, Ayurveda expert Dr Dimple Jangda recently took to Instagram to list three things that one should always keep in mind while taking a bath. to keep track!
* Drink a glass of water before taking a bath: Expert suggested that a glass of warm or room temperature water before a shower can help reduce blood pressureProblems related to the body. She explained, “Drinking hot water warms your body from the inside” which results in the dilation of blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow through them; Thus lowers blood pressure. “This results in the spread of a uniform circulatory system across the surface of the skin,” she said.
*Never take a bath after having a full meal: ,It weakens the digestive fire, which is the hot energy in your stomach and intestine, which helps digestion, absorption and assimilation of nutrients, ”said the expert. She explained that after eating, the body sends blood to the digestive tract to help with the digestion process. As such, taking a bath “distracts this blood flow from the abdomen and carries it to the surface of the skin,” she said.
Garima agreed and said that taking a bath after a heavy meal could in some cases lead to cramps, indigestion, or swelling, “Considering these effects, it may be ideal to take a bath at least an hour after a meal. Conversely, taking a bath before a meal rejuvenates and energizes your body,” she said.
*Avoid taking a bath after sunset: After sunset, our body starts cooling down, which is a sign that it is time to sleep. The expert said that taking a shower before sleeping closes the pores of the skin and traps the body heat inside. This “can cause an increase in body temperature which can actually disrupt this signal and in the process lead to a sleepless night”.

,cold water bath Or ice baths are sometimes done eg – while recovering from an injury. An ice bath immediately reduces inflammation, helps flush lactic acid out of your body, and causes your blood vessels to constrict.
